The chief of the Baldur Fire Department has identified the pilot who died in a plane crash in southern Manitoba Friday night.
Mark Everett said Harold Parsonage, 60, was a farmer who ran an aerial-spraying company east of Baldur.
RCMP said the pilot was flying alone Friday evening from Gillam to a private landing strip in the RM of Argyle. He was scheduled to arrive at the landing strip at approximately 6:30 p.m. Friday.
Contact was lost with the pilot and the aircraft just after his scheduled arrival time.
A Canadian Forces Hercules searched for the missing aircraft that evening. The search continued on Saturday with the Civil Air Search and Rescue Association of Manitoba.
The plane was located in a wooded area at about 3:30 p.m Saturday near the landing strip near Baldur. The pilot was pronounced deceased on scene.
Investigators from the Transportation Safety Board of Canada are investigating.
Baldur is located about 100 km southeast of Brandon.
