Former Manitoba Lt-Gov. John Harvard is mourning the loss of his son, Sasha.

Sasha Harvard, 33, died suddenly Saturday.

“The family is shocked and deeply saddened by Sasha’s unexpected passing but until we receive the result of the medical examiners report we are not able to comment at this time,” Harvard said, in a statement to the Free Press.

Sasha Harvard was an immigration lawyer at the Winnipeg firm, Alghoul and Associates. He graduated from the University of Manitoba law school in 2009 and was called to the bar in 2010.

John Harvard was Manitoba’s lieutenant governor from 2004 to 2009. He was the Liberal MP for Charleswood-St.James-Assiniboia from 1988 until 2004.
