How big a deal is getting Paul McCartney to come to Winnipeg?
Promoter Ian Low from Live Nation will drop by the Winnipeg Free Press News Café to tell us what’s involved in getting arguably the biggest name in popular music to come to Investors Group Field on Aug. 12.
A 20-year veteran of booking rock stars, Low will also discuss the impact the soon-to-be-opened football stadium will have on the city’s concert scene.
Low’s interview will be livestreamed below at 2:50 p.m.
Tickets for McCartney’s Out There tour will go on sale through Ticketmaster on April 29 at 10 a.m.
The tour date was announced on McCartney’s official website about 40 minutes before the press conference was set to start and he sent out a tweet about it at 10:03 a.m. from his official account:
Paul McCartney (@PaulMcCartney) 2013-04-22 10:03 AM — "Paul has just added a date at the Investors Group Field in Winnipeg to his #OutThere tour! Details at PaulMcCartney.com."
According to Ticketmaster.ca, tickets will range from $48 to $275 (including all taxes and service fees) and will go on sale to the public Monday, April 29. Various pre-sale tickets and VIP packages go on sale Thursday.
McCartney, who turns 71 in June, has been one of the hotly-rumoured acts to be coming to the new home of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. His fellow British Invasion counterparts from the 1960s, The Rolling Stones, have been another one.
The press conference will also feature Premier Greg Selinger and Kevin Donnelly from True North Sports & Entertainment.
