Police are treating the death of a woman found Monday morning in a ditch northwest of Brandon, Man. as suspicious.
Yellowhead RCMP received a report from a passerby of an unresponsive 40-year-old woman discovered in the ditch along Provincial Road 354 south of Oak River, Man. Monday at about 8 a.m., a police news release said.
Emergency medical services transported her to hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Police have not released her identity.
The RCMP said it is investigating the death as suspicious with major crime services and forensic identification services assisting with the ongoing investigation.
Oak River is a village of 125 people located about 276 kilometres west of Winnipeg and just east of Hamiota, Man.
