A 15-year veteran of the Winnipeg Police Service who’s facing charges of pointing firearms and uttering death threats has left the force.

A police spokesperson confirmed Leroy Gold left his job Nov. 30, but wouldn’t say whether he quit or was fired, citing the matter as “a personnel issue.”

Gold, 41, is accused of pointing his gun at a female co-worker and uttering threats on two separate occasions in May and November 2016. Criminal charges weren’t laid until July 2017, and that’s when Gold was ordered not to have any contact with the alleged victim and to surrender his firearm to the police force’s professional standards unit. He faces two counts each of pointing a firearm and uttering threats.
