City hall has released an online tool that allows the public to keep tabs on major infrastructure projects.

The open portal capital projects dashboard lets the public see the status of active projects valued at $5 million and beyond.

“These new tools make the City of Winnipeg amongst the civic leaders in Canada by making it easier for residents to access information on budget and capital projects in an open, accountable, and user-friendly way,” Mayor Brian Bowman said in a statement.

The dashboard shows if the project is on schedule and on budget, under budget or over budget, with the aid of a colour-coded scheme.

Actual costs and council-approved budget information are updated monthly. Forecast and schedule information are updated at least quarterly.

Coun. Mike Pagtakhan, council liaison for project management, said the online tool is a first of its kind and will help the public, civic staff and council members monitor projects.
