Thompson RCMP have charged a Crown attorney with public mischief, 18 months after an alleged incident on a highway near Norway House.

On Tuesday, RCMP said they had charged Elizabeth Pats (also known as Elizabeth Laite), 53, stemming from an alleged incident she reported April 25, 2016.

According to media reports last year, an injured woman was found at the side of Highway 373. Police were told the woman was driving through the area when she was flagged down for roadside assistance. Reportedly, when the woman got out of her vehicle to help, she was attacked by a man, but was able to escape.

RCMP did not say why the incident resulted in the charges against Pats.

Pats is employed as a Crown attorney with Manitoba Justice in the Manitoba Prosecution Service.

RCMP said she was served a summons to appear Oct. 19 in provincial court in Norway House.
