A global campaign to end violence against women launches in Winnipeg on Nov. 25.

The Institute for International Women’s Rights — Manitoba is hosting an event to launch the campaign, called 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, that runs to Dec. 10.

The public is invited to hear from Manitoba women about their experiences here and around the world, from the Manitoba Coalition for Murdered and Missing Women and Girls to the plight of Yazidi and Afghan women, as well as those from South Sudan. The event takes place Nov. 25 at the South Sudanese Cultural Centre, 129 Dagmar St. The doors open at 1 p.m. and there is no charge. Nov. 25 is the International Day to End Violence Against Women.
