Hey there, time traveller!

Looks like the Easter bunny didn’t just bring eggs this weekend — it also brought a $3-million pot of riches.
Kinsmen Jackpot Bingo called the winning numbers for a record-breaking prize of $3-million late Saturday evening, after selling around 90,000 cards with a dollar added per game.
“It feels amazing to finally give away the pot. Kind of relieving, too, but I’m not sure how long or if we’ll really be able to take a breath,” spokesperson Sam Stevenson told the Free Press on Sunday.
“It’s almost unbelievable how big it got before it went… I’m sure it really made some people’s Easter weekend.”
Stevenson said the pot “grew like crazy during COVID,” with demand skyrocketing compared to previous years, despite some earlier supply issues with printing cards because of the pandemic.
The largest jackpot that Kinsmen previously had was for $640,000, which was given out in February, 2020.
“The demand for cards was through the roof, and we’re now selling the most cards we ever have,” said Stevenson. “I guess we became the new, fun thing to do on Saturday nights.”
While there are likely multiple winners, Kinsmen Jackpot Bingo is not sure how many it will be just yet. Players have until 11:59 a.m. on Monday to report any winning cards.
“I think we were all excited to finally give it away. When it happened, I completely froze,” said Stevenson. “I couldn’t believe it.”
With $3 million from the pot now being claimed, it will go down to around $100,000.
“It’s been pretty crazy for the last little while,” said Stevenson. “I think it’ll be interesting to see what happens now that it’s finally been given away.”
Bingo cards will not be available in retail stores during Manitoba’s code red pandemic response, but continue to be sold online. Due to rising demand, cards will only be available in sets of two, four or eight for each game.
