OTTAWA — Manitoba MP Candice Bergen is refusing to explain when and why she donned a Make America Great Again hat.
An undated photo circulated Thursday on Twitter, showing the Conservative deputy Leader wearing a camouflage baseball cap with the slogan of outgoing U.S. President Donald Trump.
The image emerged a day after armed mobs stormed the U.S. Capitol, as Trump encouraged his supporters to contest an election result upheld by multiple courts and senior members of his own party.

The Free Press was unable to verify the source of the image, which has been widely spread among Liberal party supporters.
Bergen’s office did not dispute the veracity of the photo, and would not provide any detail on when it was taken. Instead, a statement attributed to the MP for Portage-Lisgar commented on Wednesday’s events.
“I strongly condemn the violence incited by outgoing President Trump yesterday in and around the Capitol Building. There is no place for such actions in a peaceful democracy,” Bergen wrote.
“Conservatives are calling on President Trump and his supporters to respect the will of the American people and allow for a peaceful transition of power.”
