Two men have been charged in the theft of narcotic medicines fentanyl and midazolam from the back of an ambulance.
The vehicle was parked in the ambulance bay at St. Boniface Hospital when the medications were stolen on Nov. 27. The theft included four vials of fentanyl and two vials of midazolam, a medication used for anesthesia.
On Thursday at about 12 a.m., police recovered fentanyl believed stolen from the ambulance in the area of Kennedy St. and Ellice Ave., and also seized a small amount of methamphetamine. Two men were arrested.

The two men charged with various theft and illegal drug trafficking are Christopher Lee Tonn, 36, of Winnipeg, and Gary William Dutka, 44, of Winnipeg.
They were detained in custody.
