WINNIPEGGERS will have to order the white pages if they want them, but they’ll still get the yellow pages delivered as usual this spring.

The national Yellow Pages Group (YPG), which compiles and prints both residential and business phone directories in cities coast to coast, issued a bulletin with a phone number for Winnipeg today. “An increasing number of Canadians, particularly in urban areas, use our online and mobile resources such as Canada411.ca to find residential phone numbers,” said Annie Marsolais, spokeswoman for Yellow Pages Group. “… We’re confident that Winnipeg is also ready for a residential directory by request-only program,” Marsolais said.

YPG rolled out the same policy last year in Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, the Ottawa area and Quebec City.

YPG is so sure people won’t call, they expect to print off 500,000 fewer books of white pages this year in Winnipeg.

If you still want the white pages, call YPG distribution services at 1-800-268-5637 or visit www.ypg.com/delivery.
