The aging Pan Am Pool will get a whole new bulkhead for the 2017 Canada Games, the host society announced on Tuesday.
The upgrade is one of a series of facility investments the games plans to make, part of a physical legacy that organizers say could be worth $24-million.
The Pan Am investment will replace the pool’s original 1967 bulkhead. Other existing facility investments are expected to be finalized over the next year.
Tuesday’s announcement came exactly two years before the 2017 Canada Games opening ceremonies are set to kick off on July 28, 2017.
The games also unveiled its branding at the Tuesday morning news conference, revealing swooping themes inspired by heat maps and indigenous art.
