A Winnipeg police project aimed at protecting youth at high risk of being sexually exploited has seen more than a dozen men charged with buying sexual services.

Project Return resulted in the arrests of 15 men between the ages of 19 to 62 during the weekend, police said Wednesday.

Police also seized nine vehicles through prostitution highway traffic act offences.

The project brought together the police’s counter exploitation unit, missing person’s unit and community support division 11 with the community outreach organizations StreetReach and the Winnipeg Outreach Network.

The project also took 13 at-risk youth to a safe place, arrested two missing youth with outstanding warrants, checked 62 locations where high-risk missing youth are known to go to, and provided 26 people with harm-reduction kits, food and clothing.
