RCMP have renewed calls for answers in the disappearance of a Sagkeeng First Nation woman missing more than three years.
Samantha Mary Hiebert, then 28, was reported missing to Powerview RCMP in August 2020. She was last reported seen more than a year before, at the Sagkeeng Employment and Income Assistance Office on April 1, 2019.
In the years since, she has not used her bank account, been active on social media nor contacted family or friends, police said Thursday in asking for further public assistance on the case.
Hiebert was described as 5-10 and about 170 lbs., with brown hair and eyes.
RCMP said police and family are “very concerned for her well-being.”
“The Manitoba RCMP strongly believes that someone in the community has important information about Samantha’s disappearance,” spokesman Sgt. Paul Manaigre said in a statement.
“Samantha’s family, friends, the community of Sagkeeng First Nation and our investigators are all searching for answers but we need help. We need anyone who has information to come forward, every tip is valuable and can make an incredible difference.”
Police are seeking any information about Hiebert in the month leading up to her disappearance or the months following it.
To aid in the search, RCMP placed a billboard on Highway 11 in Sagkeeng, displaying a tip line phone number, as well as posters throughout Sagkeeng and nearby Powerview-Pine Falls and Traverse Bay.
Sagkeeng is located some 120 kilometres north of Winnipeg.
