RCMP are searching for suspects after a group of knife-wielding youths stabbed three adults in separate incidents in Thompson on Thursday.
The first serious attack occurred at 2:45 a.m. Thompson RCMP on patrol came across a 24-year-old man who had been stabbed while on Mystery Lake Road. RCMP say the man was assaulted by two teenage males while other people from the same group watched.
An hour later, RCMP followed up a report of a 48-year-old man who had been stabbed by two youths outside a homeless shelter. The man was taken to hospital and then flown to Winnipeg for more treatment. He is listed in stable condition.
A third stabbing was discovered at 5:20 a.m. outside the Princeton Towers apartment complex. RCMP found a 27-year-old male with multiple stab wounds.
Mounties believe the male was walking on a trail past the apartment when a group of youths jumped him. He was taken to hospital and sent to Winnipeg for more treatment, where he is listed in stable condition.
During the same time, two other people, a security guard at a local hotel and an adult male walking in Deerwood Park, were attacked by knife-wielding youths but were not seriously injured.
“These are very serious incidents and our investigators are determined to find those responsible for these senseless acts of violence,” said Insp. Brian Edmonds, officer in charge of the Thompson RCMP detachment, in a statement.
“We know there were multiple people involved in the attacks as well as some that watched these violent encounters. Someone knows who is responsible and we are asking them to come forward and share the information.”
Any witnesses or anyone with information is asked to contact Thompson RCMP at 204-677-6909 or call Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-8477, or submit a secure tip online at www.manitobacrimestoppers.com.
