BRANDON — A teacher at Hamiota Collegiate was arrested last week for allegedly sending inappropriate text messages to a female student, RCMP said Tuesday.

According to police, officers from Shoal Lake RCMP met with the victim and conducted an investigation, obtaining enough information to make an arrest.

Dylan Woodcock, 25, who made his first appearance in Brandon court Tuesday, faces charges of sexual exploitation of a young person and indecent communications.

According to its website, Hamiota and its RM have a combined population of 1,288. The community is located some 80 kilometres northwest of Brandon.
