Trading post on Portage
Today from noon till 5 p.m., the Good Will Social Club is hosting a trading post featuring local purveyors of jewelry, art, clothing and home decor. Grab an afternoon drink, have your tarot cards read and listen to DJ Tiny O spin some vinyl. The Good Will is Winnipeg’s newest bar, eatery and music venue, and is located at 625 Portage Ave.

Winter wonderland
Take a drive out to Birds Hill Provincial Park today and get a closer look at winter wildlife. Today from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., Birds Hill is offering guided walking tours, snowshoeing, scavenger hunts, craft-making and more. Warm up between activities around the campfire with hot chocolate and bannock, and watch performances by the Snow Mountain Winter Dog Sports Club. Today’s event is free to the public. Fun games, classic flick
Five bucks gets you into the Park Theatre’s movie night and game lounge Monday. Parlour games, trivia, beer specials and pop-up eats are the prologue to the film, which starts at 7 p.m. Monday’s feature is Brian De Palma’s cult classic, Phantom of the Paradise. Fiery performance
A play performed entirely on hockey skates and synthetic ice, Playing With Fire: The Theoren Fleury Story is the inspiring and gut-wrenching story of the ex-NHL star, starring Shaun Smyth. Dance in the district
On Friday and Saturday nights, Verge — an evening of dance performed by graduates of the professional program at the School of Contemporary Dancers — will be at the Rachel Browne Theatre in the heart of the Exchange District, conveniently surrounded by some of the best local dining spots in the city. Anime Saturday
Ai-Kon, Manitoba’s largest Japanese animation convention, is holding its annual Winterfest on Saturday at the Delta Winnipeg hotel. From noon until midnight, you can browse collectibles and costumes, and join panels and screenings related to anime and its culture. Tickets are $15, and children under 12 get in free. The Arkells are coming
The Arkells are performing at the Garrick Theatre Centre on Saturday. Clear your schedule and go see this Juno Award-winning band, which was named best live band by CBC Music in 2012. Tickets are $27.50. Go to garrickcentre.com for tickets.
