The Prairie Garden Committee, which produces an annual publication in Western Canada called the Prairie Garden, needs a treasurer. The treasurer is responsible for the financial affairs of the committee and will attend monthly meetings, provide financial updates at the meetings, and draft an annual budget. The Assiniboine Park Zoo is seeking volunteers ages 14-18 for its Zoo Camp Crew volunteer program. This is an opportunity to spend the summer outdoors, learn about nature, and work with campers (grade 1-6). A volunteer’s main role is to help camp counsellors with daily activities throughout the park and zoo. Volunteers greet the campers at the start of each day, play games, organize craft materials and befriend campers, all while exploring the park and zoo. Volunteers are asked to commit to a minimum of one 40-hour week this summer. Training, a volunteer uniform, and benefits — such as a letter of reference and hours toward a volunteer credit — are provided. Camp Quality Manitoba provides a unique camp experience and year-round support to families affected by childhood cancer. The camp is seeking an energetic person to join its team of volunteers to facilitate fundraising opportunities. The fundraising co-ordinator collaborates with the camp director to establish the annual fundraising budget, plan and goals.
