As the clock strikes on 2018 and a new year begins, many businesses and government services will change their hours of operation. Here’s a selection:

SHOPPING

Most malls, including Polo Park, St. Vital Centre, Kildonan Place and Grant Park Shopping Centre will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, Dec. 31, and closed Tuesday, Jan. 1.

The Forks Market is open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., every day.

Most grocery stores, including Safeway, Sobeys, Superstore and Walmart, are open Monday and closed Tuesday.

Manitoba Liquor Mart stores in Winnipeg operate from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, and will be closed Tuesday.

Beer vendors and private wine stores set their own hours for the holiday, so Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries Corp. suggests the best way to find out if the one near you will be open is to call.

 

ENTERTAINMENT

The Assiniboine Park Zoo is open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday and Tuesday.

The Manitoba Museum is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday and Tuesday.

The Children’s Museum is from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday and Tuesday.

The Winnipeg Art Gallery is closed Monday, and open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday.

The Canadian Museum for Human Rights is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday and Tuesday.

Movie theatres are open during regular hours of operation Monday and Tuesday.

 

RECYCLING AND TRASH

Recycling and garbage will be collected one day behind schedule beginning Wednesday, Jan. 2, to Saturday.

The Brady Road landfill will be open Monday and closed Tuesday.

 

LEISURE ACTIVITIES

Most leisure centres will be open Monday, but will close early, except for the St. John’s Leisure Centre, which will be closed all day. All locations will be closed Tuesday.

The Crescent Drive, Harbour View, John Blumberg, Kildonan Park and Windsor Park golf courses are closed.

City of Winnipeg swimming pools will be open Monday, but will close at 4:30 p.m. All locations will close Tuesday.

WINNIPEG TRANSIT

All buses will operate on a Sunday schedule Tuesday.

LIBRARIES

All Winnipeg Public Library branches will close early, at 5 p.m., Monday. All locations will be closed Tuesday.

CEMETERIES

Brookside, St. Vital and Transcona cemetery grounds will be open for visitation from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Cemetery offices will be closed Tuesday.

GOVERNMENT SERVICES

Civic, provincial and federal offices are closed Tuesday.

The Winnipeg Parking Authority will be open Monday and closed Tuesday.

The Winnipeg Animal Services Agency will be open Monday and closed Tuesday.

There is no mail delivery Tuesday. While Canada Post offices are closed, post offices operated by the private sector will be open according to the hours of service of the host business.
