IT’S Thanksgiving weekend, a time to give thanks, with family around — subject to public health restrictions — but also a chance to stuff our bellies.

Many businesses and government services change hours over the Thanksgiving weekend. Here’s a selection:

COVID-19 TEST SITES

All testing sites in Winnipeg are open regular hours Monday except for one: Ma Mawi Wi Chi Itata Centre test site at 445 King St. is closed.

SHOPPING

Most malls will be open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday

The Forks Market is open regular hours.

Most grocery stores, including Safeway, Sobeys, Superstore and Walmart, are open regular hours.

Manitoba Liquor Mart stores in Winnipeg will open Monday at 10 a.m. and close at 6 p.m. For details on rural Liquor Mart hours, visit www.LiquorMarts.ca/hours.

Beer vendors and private wine stores set their own hours for the holiday, so Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries Corp. suggests the best way to find out if the one near you will be open is to call.

ENTERTAINMENT

The Assiniboine Park Zoo is open Monday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The Manitoba Museum is closed Monday.

The Children’s Museum is closed Monday.

The Winnipeg Art Gallery is closed Monday.

The Canadian Museum for Human Rights is closed Monday.

Movie theatres are open Monday.

The Casinos of Winnipeg are open from 10 a.m. to 3 a.m. throughout the weekend.

RECYCLING AND TRASH

Recycling, garbage and yard waste will be collected on the regular collection day Monday.

The Brady Road landfill is open for commercial customers from 5:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday, while the Brady 4R Winnipeg Depot will be open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday. Both the Pacific 4R and Panet 4R depots are closed Monday.

LEISURE ACTIVITIES

All arenas, fitness and leisure centres are closed Monday except for the fitness centres at the Pan Am and Cindy Klassen Recreation Complex.

The Crescent Drive, Harbour View, Kildonan Park and Windsor Park golf courses will be open.

The only City of Winnipeg swimming pools open Monday are the Pan Am from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., Margaret Grant from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., and Cindy Klassen Recreation Complex from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.

WINNIPEG TRANSIT

On Monday, buses will operate on a Sunday schedule.

LIBRARIES

All Winnipeg Public Library branches are closed Monday.

CEMETERIES

Brookside, St. Vital and Transcona cemetery grounds are open from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Cemetery offices will be closed on the holiday.

GOVERNMENT SERVICES

Civic, provincial and federal offices are closed.

The Winnipeg Parking Authority continues to be closed to the public because of COVID-19.

The Winnipeg Animal Services Agency will be closed Monday.

There is no mail delivery Monday and Canada Post offices are closed, but post offices operated by the private sector will be open according to the hours of service of the host business.
