MANITOBANS are facing a May long weekend unlike any other, after the province announced a six-day tweak to public health guidelines meant to deter people from gathering on the holiday.

After breaking COVID-19 daily case count records Thursday, all outdoor social gatherings with people outside of a household have been banned until May 26.

“May long weekend starts tomorrow, which many view as the unofficial start of summer. We know everyone would love to spend the weekend connecting with friends, family, and loved ones,” Health Minister Heather Stefanson said Thursday. “Today, we are urging everyone to hang on a little bit longer. We need to work together while staying apart.”

Many businesses and government services change their hours over the May long weekend. Here’s a selection:

COVID-19 TEST SITES

All COVID-19 testing sites are open at normal times Monday.
