A new CEO will take over the Winnipeg Foundation when it celebrates the start of its second century of operation on April 27, 2021.
Sky Bridges will become the sixth CEO, replacing Rick Frost, who will retire after leading the foundation for 23 years.
“After a widespread and thorough search process, the board vote was unanimous in favour of Sky’s selection,” said Doneta Brotchie, board chairwoman. “Rick Frost has been an exceptional and exemplary CEO, and we are confident that our choice of Sky Bridges will prove to be the right one for the future of the Winnipeg Foundation.”
The foundation, which has been in operation since 1921, gives back to the community by connecting donors with causes they care about.
Bridges is currently the chief operating officer at Aboriginal Peoples Television Network.
Bridges has also been involved with the community and charitable sector, having volunteered on several local boards, including Winnipeg Folk Festival and United Way Winnipeg.
He’s held various positions in the broadcast industry, covering both the private and public sectors. He has served as vice-president of business development at the Canadian Council for Aboriginal Businesses and has been involved with the development of Indigenous Day Live, APTN’s celebration of National Indigenous Peoples Day.
“I am honoured and humbled to be selected to lead this exceptional organization of dedicated and talented professionals whose mission is to strengthen our community,” said Bridges in a media release.
“I look forward to helping advance the extraordinary work done by the Winnipeg Foundation in promoting philanthropy and supporting the diverse charitable organizations in our city.”
