Police warn about release of high-risk offender

2:09 PM

A man with a history of sexual and violent crimes was set to be released from jail Sunday, the Winnipeg Police Service warned.

The public notification from the Manitoba Integrated High Risk Sex Offender Unit was issued for Cyril Junior Houle, 48, who was set to be released from Headingley Correctional Centre on April 20 after serving time for failing to follow a probation order. Although Houle completed some treatment programs while behind bars, police believe he is still a high risk to re-offend, especially against females.

He is under a lifetime weapons prohibition and will be on probation until Sept. 26.

Police also stated vigilante actions against Houle will not be tolerated.
