Crews battle Inkster house fire

9:44 PM

Winnipeg fire fighters responded to a blaze in a bungalow in the 2400 block of Inkster Boulevard Sunday afternoon.

Crews reported heavy smoke coming from the house and attacked the fire, declaring it under control less than an hour later.

Occupants of the house got out before crews arrived.

Paramedics treated one patient that did not require transportation to the hospital.

The fire is still under investigation with no damage estimates available yet.

Vehicle fire forces partial closure of Trans-Canada

The Province of Manitoba issued a notice Sunday evening that the westbound lanes of the Trans-Canada Highway at Cabot Road – approximately 10 km west of Headingley – were closed due to a vehicle fire.

No timeline was given for when the route would be open again.

Crews deal with house fire on Maryland Street

11:29 AM

A West End house fire is under investigation.

The fire started at a house in the 600 block of Maryland Street at about 2:30 a.m. May 18. Crews declared the blaze under control at 3:07 a.m.

Paramedics assessed one person on the scene, and they did not require transportation to the hospital, the City of Winnipeg stated in a news release Sunday. The cause of the fire and damage estimates haven’t been released.

Girl, 14, missing since May 5

9:40 AM

Winnipeg police are asking for the public’s help to find a missing 14-year-old girl who was last seen in the area of Salter Street and Selkirk Avenue two weeks ago.

Daliya Young is described as 5’3” tall with a thin build, brown hair and brown eyes. She was last seen at 9 a.m. on May 5.

Police are concerned for her wellbeing, the WPS stated in a news release Sunday. Police are asking anyone with any information on Daliya’s whereabouts to contact the Winnipeg Police Service Missing Persons Unit at 204-986-6250.
