Woman charged with assaulting a police officer

A 21-year-old woman is facing criminal charges after she allegedly kicked a police officer in the face while being arrested for public intoxication.
The incident happened at an establishment in Windsor Park at about 3:15 a.m. Sept. 7. When Winnipeg Police Service officers were trying to arrest the woman, she pulled her arms away when they tried to put on handcuffs, she kicked the safety divider between the front and back seat in the cruiser. She then kicked one of the officers in the chest and face when they attempted to restrain her legs, WPS stated in a news release on Sunday.
The woman’s name hasn’t been publicly released. She faces charges of resisting a peace officer and assaulting a peace officer.
Three arrested in cocaine trafficking investigation

Three people were arrested and face charges as part of a drug-trafficking investigation in Fort Richmond that led to Winnipeg police seizing loaded guns and more than $100,000 worth of cocaine.
Mark Peter Pujol, 41, has been charged with 15 firearm- and drug-related offences after police executed a search warrant at an apartment suite the first block of Bison Drive on Sept. 5. Officers with the guns and gangs unit also searched a second apartment suite in the same building as well as a suite in the 500 block of College Avenue. Pujol was detained in custody.
In total, police seized more than three kilograms of individually packaged crack cocaine, among other weapons, ammunition, cash, and drug trafficking paraphernalia.
A 37-year-old man and a 26-year-old woman were also arrested as part of the investigation. They are facing charges and were released on undertakings. Police didn’t publicly release their names.
