Man booted gas bar staffer 20 times: police
3:01 PM
A Thompson man is accused of attacking a gas bar employee after an argument Sunday.
RCMP were sent to a gas station in the northern Manitoba city at 11:15 p.m. and learned a 26-year-old man got into an argument with a female cashier, Mounties said in a Tuesday news release.
A co-worker of the woman told the man to leave the store but the accused punched him and knocked him to the floor, police said. The employee was punched several times further and kicked at least 20 times, police said.
The man fled the store and was arrested a short distance away. Police said he later threatened an officer.
The man was charged with assault causing bodily harm, resisting a peace officer and uttering threats.
There was also a warrant for the man’s arrest from August 2024 for charges of assault causing bodily harm, assault by choking and uttering threats.
He remains in custody.

One person was taken to hospital in unstable condition after paramedics assessed them at the scene.
It is believed the fire was accidental.
On Monday evening, crews were sent to the 300 block of Magnus Avenue for a fire in a one-and-a-half storey home.
Firefighters declared that fire under control at 10:15 p.m.
No one was found in the house and no injuries were reported.
Damage estimates for both fires were not available.
Man facing gun charges after road rage incident north of city
10:16 AM
A 38-year-old man from the RM of West St. Paul is facing several firearms-related charges following a road rage incident Saturday night.
According to RCMP, a 35-year-old driver was travelling near Highway 8 and Grassmere Road shortly after 8 p.m. when a man in another vehicle allegedly pointed a handgun at him during a confrontation.
Officers responded to the report and, at approximately 8:30 p.m., located the suspect’s vehicle at a home in the RM of West St. Paul. The driver was arrested without incident. A subsequent search of the home led to the seizure of a CO2-powered air pistol and two additional long guns.
The man has been charged with pointing a firearm, careless use of a firearm, and unsafe storage of a firearm.
He was released with conditions and is scheduled to appear in court on April 21 in Winnipeg.
The investigation is ongoing.
