Jets’ playoff hopes take hit with loss to Stars

9:36 PM

The Winnipeg Jets saw their slim playoff hopes take a substantial hit on Thursday night in the form of a 3-0 loss to the Dallas Stars.

Jake Oettinger stopped all 22 shots he saved for the shutout, while Matt Duchene, Arttu Hyry and Adam Erne scored for the home team.

Jets goaltender Connor Hellebuyck made 18 saves in a losing effort.

Winnipeg falls to 32-31-12 on the season, including 2-1-0 on this four-game road trip which concludes Saturday in Columbus.

The Jets entered play against the Stars two points back of the final Western Conference wildcard playoff spot. That will grow to either three or four by the end of the night, depending on the outcome of the Nashville vs. Los Angeles game.

Sea Bears bring back Teddy ‘Buckets’ Allen

8:58 AM

The Winnipeg Sea Bears have signed Teddy Allen for the 2026 season.

Yes, the same Teddy Allen who was named the Canadian Elite Basketball League’s Most Valuable Player in 2023 while leading the Sea Bears to the playoffs in the franchise’s inaugural season.

The 6-6 guard/forward from Phoenix spent this season with the Rio Grande Valley Vipers (10 games) and Delaware Blue Coats (16 games) of the NBA G League, averaging 20 points, 4.7 rebounds and 2.3 assists per contest.

Allen made headlines in the G League several times this season for his playmaking ability, including with the Blue Coats last month, when he tied a career-high 42-point performance (which he did with the Vipers earlier in the season).

The 27-year-old is expected to form a dynamic scoring tandem with three-time CEBL MVP Xavier Moon, whom Winnipeg signed earlier this off-season.

Allen will speak to the media on Thursday afternoon.
