A woman is in hospital after being hit by a truck in Swan River Friday.
Just after 12:30 p.m., RCMP were called to a collision involving a pedestrian and a truck at the intersection of Main Street and 8th Avenue. The woman was “seriously” injured, but RCMP offered few other details about the accident in a news release.
Traffic at the intersection was temporarily closed but has since reopened. The investigation is ongoing.
Charges laid after one man injured, one killed in North End shooting
2:31 PM
A 20-year-old man has been charged in a shooting that injured one man and killed another Monday night.
Winnipeg police responded to a gun call around 10 p.m. at a home on the 600 block of Bannerman Avenue. They found a 21-year-old and a 23-year-old man who had been shot.
The pair were rushed to the hospital, but the 23-year-old died from his injuries. The 21-year-old victim has since been upgraded to stable condition.
The dead man has been identified as Andrew Chartrand of Winnipeg.
On Thursday police arrested Joshua Lloyd Beaulieu and charged him with a slew of offences, including second degree murder, aggravated assault, multiple weapons offences and failing to comply with conditions of a release order. He remains in custody.
Manitoba reports 18 more measles cases

Manitoba Health has reported 18 more confirmed measles cases, bringing the province’s year-to-date total to 586.
The newest cases were reported between May 9 and 16.
One additional probable case was also reported for a year-to-date total of 75. One additional hospitalization was recorded.
Manitoba has reported the highest number of measles cases among Canadian provinces this year, according to the federal government’s latest surveillance report.
Officials have said the true number of infections is higher than the number of cases that have been detected.

Police investigate stabbings on Alfred, Pritchard avenues
10:56 AM
Winnipeg police major crimes detectives are investigating two separate stabbings in the city’s core on Wednesday that sent a teenage boy and a young man to hospital.
In the first incident, a 16-year-old boy on the 300 block of Alfred Avenue just after 5:30 p.m. was accosted by a small group of males he did not know and stabbed.
The group — it’s not yet clear if it was made up of adults or youths — then ran off, the Winnipeg Police Service said on Friday.
Patrol officers found the boy and paramedics rushed him to hospital in stable condition.
At about 10:25 p.m., officers were called to the 300 block of Pritchard Avenue, where a 19-year-old man had been stabbed, possibly by a group of males. The victim was also taken to hospital in stable condition. It’s unclear if he knew the attackers.
Police spokeswoman Const. Dani McKinnon said detectives need to conduct further interviews with the victims to learn more about the attacks.
Police are investigating the stabbings as separate cases, McKinnon said. At this point, it does not appear that the same groups were involved in both attacks.
Police are asking anyone with information on potential suspects or video surveillance from the area to call major crimes investigators at their office at 204-986-6219 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 204-786-8477.
Wellington Crescent fire under investigation
9:20 AM
One patient was assessed for injuries after a fire broke out inside an apartment building in the 600 block of Wellington Crescent Thursday night.
Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service crews were called to the scene shortly before 9:45 p.m., the city said in a news release.
Firefighters helped residents get out of the building, while others extinguished the fire, which was declared under control at about 10:10 p.m.
The patient who was assessed did not have to go to hospital, the city said.
Winnipeg’s emergency social services team provided temporary support to residents who were displaced. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
