Man charged, accused of luring child in Ohio

A 36-year-old man is facing numerous child-sexual abuse imagery charges after police executed a warrant on a home in Headingley Tuesday.

In May, police started investigating after being told a man was talking with a child from Ohio, online by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, said a Winnipeg Police Service news release Saturday.

Internet Child Exploitation officers investigated and found ongoing communication between the man and a child, with officers seizing multiple electronic devices, using an electronic storage detection police dog to find them.

The suspect’s charges include possession and distribution of child sexual abuse and exploitation material, transmitting sexual images to a person under 18 and luring a person under 18 using means of telecommunication.

He was released on conditions and an undertaking.

No injuries after three tornadoes confirmed Tuesday

No injuries or serious damage was logged after three small tornadoes touched down in Manitoba Tuesday.

The first funnel cloud happened northeast of Douglas at around 3:40 p.m. damaging the roof of a garage, a fence and some trees in the area, as wind speeds reached a max of 115 kilometres per hour, said a Saturday news release from tornado monitors, the Northern Tornadoes Project.

Just before 4:30 p.m., another twister was spotted southeast of Manitou, producing wind speeds of 115 km/h, said the NTP, with another recorded at 5:50 near Sperling.

All three were classified as EF0, the lowest possible, with review of satellite imagery yet to be completed.
