Hold and secure lifted at two Winnipeg schools

1:43 PM

Hold and secures were in place at two Munroe West schools as police responded to a nearby incident Tuesday.

Both Polson School and Ecole Munroe Middle School on Munroe Avenue enacted safety protocols following an “incident in the community, not at a school,” said River East Transcona School Division spokesperson Adrian Alleyne.

Parents were notified through the school division’s emergency notification system and a letter is being sent home to parents.

Alleyne said the RETSD was guided by police during the hold and secures which ended about 1:35 p.m.

The Winnipeg Police Service said there was an ongoing investigation on the 300 block of Munroe Ave. earlier on Tuesday, but it has since been resolved.
