Missing woman last seen in Selkirk: RCMP

Selkirk RCMP as asking for the public’s assistance in locating a missing 28-year-old woman.

Crystal Paul was last seen around 9 p.m. on June 25 at an address on Manitoba Avenue in Selkirk, RCMP say. She was wearing a light grey hoodie, black leggings, black shoes and had a dark grey and purple sweater tied around her waist.

RCMP say she could be in Winnipeg or Lorette.

Anyone with information on her whereabouts is asked to call the Selkirk RCMP detachment at 204-482-1222, Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-8477 or submit a secure tip online at manitobacrimestoppers.com.

Man, 87, charged in 2024 pedestrian death

An 87-year-old man has been charged in connection to a motor vehicle collision that killed an 84-year-old pedestrian in 2024.

Winnipeg police say the driver struck the pedestrian on around 5:30 p.m. on Dec. 18 near Byrd Avenue and Westwood Drive. The pedestrian was taken to hospital in unstable condition where he died of his injuries. The driver stayed on scene.

Police say he is charged with careless driving causing death. He was released on an appearance notice.

 

Child hit by moving train in Weston

Winnipeg police say a child is in stable condition after being injured by a moving train Friday night.

Officers were called to the 1300 block of Winnipeg Avenue West around 8:45 p.m. for a report of the incident. The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service was also on scene and transported the child to hospital.

Police are reminding the public to be extremely cautious when around active rail lines, advising them to never climb on rail equipment or approach a moving train under any circumstance.

Man arrested after pointing gun at police: WPS

A 35-year-old man is in custody and is facing 22 charges after Winnipeg police say he pointed a gun at them.

Police say the man was seen riding an e-bike along the sidewalk of McGregor Street around 8 a.m. Friday. When officers attempted to stop the cyclist, he continue on before stopping on the 500 block of Manitoba Avenue, a Saturday news release states.

The man was found to be breaching conditions of his ankle monitor and when police attempted to arrest him, they say he ran away. Officers chased after him and the man allegedly pointed a loaded firearm at them, the release states.

Following the man’s arrest, police seized a loaded sawed-off 0.22 calibre improvised gun.

The man is facing 15 firearms related offences, two counts of assaulting a peace officer with a weapon and five counts of failing to comply with a probation order.

 

 

Dog park officially opens in south Winnipeg

The Bridgwater Trails Dog Park is open, a Saturday news release from the city states.

The off-leash park is located within Shaheed Bhagat Singh Park at 360 Appleford Gate in the Bridgwater Trails neighbourhood.

The  area — which spans one hectare — is fully fenced and has dedicated spaces for large and small dogs.

The project was funded through the mayor’s civic initiatives under the promotional and protocol fund and the communities fund for Waverly West.
