Missing Chemawawin man last seen walking toward bushes

RCMP are asking for the public’s help finding a Chemawawin Cree Nation man who hasn’t been seen since Sept. 3.

Kenneth Walker, 39, was last seen by a family friend walking toward the bushes near Northside Road in the community, located about 450 kilometres north of Winnipeg.

Walker is described as being five-feet, nine-inches tall with a slender build, black hair and brown eyes.

Motorcycle-deer collision on Highway 59 sends two to hospital

A man and woman were airlifted to hospital after their motorcycle hit two deer while driving on Highway 59 near Tolstoi.

Just after 8:30 p.m. on Saturday Morris RCMP, local firefighters and paramedics responded to the scene and treated the driver and and passenger, a 55-year-old man and a 52-year-old woman, both from Ile des Chenes.

The woman was in critical but stable condition at last report. The driver is in stable condition.

Man dies in truck-ATV collision in Sandy Bay Ojibway First Nation

A man has died after his ATV crashed into a pickup truck over the long weekend.

Early Sunday morning around 1:20 a.m. Manitoba First Nations Police Service received a report of a collision involving an ATV and a pickup truck at the intersection of Ridge Road North and Main Road in Sandy Bay Ojibway First Nation.

Officers responded to the scene and found an ATV engulfed in flames and a man lying in the ditch. The 29-year-old was rushed to hospital in Portage la Prairie, where he later died.

An investigation determined the victim was driving south on Ridge Road North and went through the intersection without stopping, where he collided with the rear end of an eastbound pickup truck. The 42-year-old driver of the truck was not injured.

Senior assaulted at bus stop

An 18-year-old man has been charged after a 67-year-old woman was randomly attacked at a bus stop on Portage Avenue last month.

The senior was sitting on a bench at a bus stop at Portage and Craig Street on Aug. 10 when a man lay down beside her, the Winnipeg Police Service said in a news release Tuesday.

The woman was “minding her own business” when the man began to kick and punch her, police said. The suspect followed her onto a city bus, but was kicked off shortly after for causing a disturbance.

The victim sustained injuries to her upper body but did not require medical attention.

On Monday around 4 p.m., police arrested a suspect at a residence in the 200 block of Margaret Street.

Davis Miles has been charged with assault and was detained in custody.
