Hey there, time traveller!

Some pre-game observances…
Heavenly view: St. Vladimir Ukrainian Orthodox Church, which is located a few blocks away from the stadium. It’s a beautiful landmark building and it’s quite the strange sight considering the battle for people’s attention on Sunday. Outside of Notre Dame, football and church don’t usually mix. I wonder if the classic brick homes around here charge worshippers a few bucks to park on their front lawn. Yesterday, a guy looking for a few Bomber autographs told me there were churches all around Ivor Wynne. I love it when stadiums (stadia?) are in the middle of residential neighbourhoods. It’s so NOT Winnipeg.
Confessional: In the hard copy of the paper today, I listed the Bombers stats guru as Steve Milton. Unless the dude from the Hamilton Spectator is moonlighting as the Blue and Gold number cruncher, that is a mistake. Milton must have really made an impression on me at the walk through Thursday, eh? All apologies to Steve Daniel, the true Bombers stats man, for my bonehead blunder.
Lord, have mercy: Once the gun sounds on the first half, will the Bombers actually want to sit in the locker room? The accommodations at Ivor Wynne as less than, how can I put this…accommodating. In fact, it might be toastier in the visiting room than it is in some spots outside. Equipment stud Brad Fotty has strategically placed a couple fans around the lockers to cool some of the players, but after being in the room for two minutes on Thursday, I have my doubts it will make a difference. They’d be better off running through a sprinkler at the half.
Saving grace: A big thanks from the Winnipeg media contingent to Mr. Fotty this week. The space on the truck is more than appreciated.
Finally: Is it any coincidence the Tabbies have placed the fan hot tub right next to the visitor’s room? Gee, you think players won’t sneak a peek over as they come in and out of the room at the half? Temptations, people. Temptations.
