Hey there, time traveller!

I cannot thank enough a certain Dave in Winnipeg who took the time and effort to return my lost calendar to me.

He understood how I would miss all the dates and appointments marked in it, including all our birthdays and anniversaries in 2014.

My granddaughter was driving me around on lots of errands that day. I had my calendar on my lap to check on a certain appointment. I did not even see it slip away, and the wind must have blown it out of sight under the car.

In the evening, I could not find it in any of my bags and searched frantically for where I might have left it. I started putting the events I could remember, the when and where, into a spare calendar.

Then came a call from Grace Hospital assuring me my calendar was found and I should call the person who had it.

What? I was not even near Grace Hospital that day.

I called and learned Dave had spotted the calendar in the parking lot on Grant Avenue where we were parked when I lost it, so he came out of his store to retrieve it.

There was no name or phone number on the calendar, but realizing how much the owner would miss it, he scanned the pages for clues and found an appointment in July for an X-ray at Grace Hospital. Dave called there, and staff helped him get in touch with me.

I went to Dave’s store, Papa Murphy’s pizza place, and was disappointed not to meet him, but was given my calendar by a staff member.

No words can describe the great kindness and compassionate diligence this very special Dave showed.
