Hey there, time traveller!

If raccoons and skunks are a nuisance in Winnipeg, why do city residents think they won’t be the same in the country (Raccoons, skunks invade city, Jan 5)? I read that half of the animals caught by private pest-control companies are released in the country.
I live on an acreage 20 minutes south of the city, and I don’t want your skunks and raccoons. We have enough of our own. Skunks, especially, are animals non grata around our place, because they carry rabies or, as the article more delicately puts its, “(show) signs of erratic behaviour or illness.” That’s rabies, folks.
We have experienced a case of rabies transmitted by a skunk. If you’re capturing city pests, then euthanize them on site; we don’t want to have to do your dirty work. And while I am on the topic of stray animals, keep your unwanted kittens, cats, puppies and dogs; again, we have enough of our own.
