Re: “Manitoba chiefs’ salary data online” (July 30). Finally, we have a federal government with the courage to insist Canadians have the right to know how tax dollars are being spent by reserve chiefs and their councils.

Canadian taxpayers should congratulate the Canadian Taxpayers Federation and the First Nations people who pushed for this legislation.

Future prime ministers will also benefit from this legislation, as they will be able to find out which chiefs and councillors pay themselves the most ludicrous salaries and entitlements, thus ensuring we never run out of potential Canadian senators.
