More support for Oswald
Re: Balagus believes Oswald best choice (Dec. 23). As much of a saviour as Oswald may be, the NDP has been in power for 15 years. They’re tired, bereft of new policies and ideas, and should be replaced. Unfortunately, they’ll have to be replaced by Pallister’s Conservatives.
Where’s Duff Roblin when we need him?

So what is Selinger going to do? A little quiet on his front.
— 43108561
@43108561: I imagine Selinger is sitting back, taking all this in, while wondering how he can use whatever Oswald and Ashton say to help himself.
Greg Selinger has clearly demonstrated that he can be very ruthless when he is opposed; it could prove entertaining throughout January and February.

By the time the NDP finish slagging each other in the media, all the PCs will need to do is play the video back as their campaign ad, saving the party millions…

“Frankly, I think she represents the best opportunity for the province and NDP.”
This is what’s called “drinking the Kool-aid.”

Ashton’s PST pledge
Re: Ashton pledges referendum on PST (Dec. 23). The referendum was the last election — the NDP pledged that they wouldn’t raise the PST, and then they did.
That’s why everyone is really, really mad, Mr. Ashton — your entire team lied. Then you all screwed up the message, you didn’t apologize, and you didn’t spend all the money
Then you started fighting with each other, and tried to blame Brian Pallister or Gary Filmon. Then you came to the conclusion that the citizens of Manitoba will forget all of this if you renew the current premier, or elect the lead rebel or yourself to help Manitoba face the future.
— April 30 Taxpayer
Big deal — spend more millions on a referendum only to learn that they can’t afford to rescind the increase.
If they want to pull the province out of debt, they will probably have to increase the tax again. And cut services.
— Rodney 2
Mr. Ashton, if you’ve been with the party this long, you’re part of the problem… not the solution.
