True North, city at odds
Re: True North chairman addresses CentreVenture issues (Feb. 5). It is pretty obvious that Mark Chipman is very angry with Bowman. I imagine he is feeling betrayed.
It’s obvious someone is lying through their teeth. What reason would Mark Chipman have to lie? I hope he tries to understand that the people of Winnipeg have seen all sorts of problems with various real estate projects and are understandably leery.
Where does this mess go from here?

When this story first came to light, there was speculation Chipman was involved. My instinct at the time was to let the facts surface because I trusted Chipman et al would act in good faith. I still believe this.
But there are still many holes in every version and in every telling of this story.

There is no way Mayor Bowman can survive this. He will be a one-term mayor. Start the campaign right now.

I am still confused a little with the whole thing. Looks like Bowman needs to answer some questions.
We are waiting, Mr. Mayor.

Bowman, I think the honeymoon is over.

Vaccination frustration
Re: Anti-vaccination ignorance feeds autism fears (Feb. 5). If you wonder why people distrust “Big Pharma” and the medical complex, just revisit the latest fiasco regarding flu shots. There’s a lot of disingenuous fear-mongering going on (from both sides) that obscures a rational assessment of benefits and risks.
I’m in favour of measles shots. However, I am also concerned Big Brother seems to be lining up ever-more “essential” injections that may ultimately be the pharmaceutical equivalent of genetically modified crops.

I’m from the olden days. I remember my parents having to submit the vaccination forms to the school. Wow, I guess that polio vaccine was a bad thing, too?

If I can’t send my kid to school with a peanut butter sandwich, then you can’t send your kid without a vaccination.

When we put Jenny McCarthy to the fore as a leading light of medical science, we have returned to the dark ages.
