Actor Mylee Nordin (originally from Winnipeg) is lovely as she gently recounts the tale of what happens when the 40-something beekeeping bachelor neighbour of a 14-year old girl unexpectedly passes away. In the days that follow, a package of live bees arrives in the mail and she finds herself responsible for following the steps that will ensure their survival. She has to become a beekeeper and in doing so, she learns all about Adam Preston, Apiarist — the gentleman she never knew in life.
The Apiarist is the sweet, spoken-word remembrance of being 14 and taking on a task that makes you see the world through different eyes. It’s also the story of how we can discover someone else by walking in their footsteps and in the process find ourselves.
