The late hometown hero and Winnipeg Sea Bears captain Chad Posthumus was honoured Friday with the opening of a new basketball court at Gateway Recreation Centre.

The “Beast from River East” started his basketball journey at the recreation centre and received his nickname while playing for the River East Collegiate Kodiaks.

The centre made Sea Bears history as the first Canadian Elite Basketball League player signed to the club.
