Sherry Middaugh of Coldwater, Ont., had a triple in the 10th to get by Switzerland’s Alina Paetz 9-6.

In men’s play, Winnipeg’s Jeff Stoughton scored two in the extra end to defeat St. John’s, N.L.’s Brad Gushue.
