ABOUT THE AVS

— Defenceman Tyson Barrie led the Avalanche in scoring with 19 points (3G, 16A) heading into the game against the Flames and his totals have him among the NHL leaders in scoring by D-men.

— Veteran winger Jarome Iginla is closing in on an NHL legend on the all-time goal leaders. Iginla has 564 and trails Mike Bossy, 20th on the all-time list, who has 573. Iginla is second only to Jaromir Jagr (709) on the career goals list for active players.

— Colorado reassigned goaltender Calvin Pickard, a Winnipeg product, earlier this week. He picked up two wins in relief before his demotion (Nov. 22 vs. Carolina; Nov. 25 at Arizona) to become the first goalie in NHL history to record his first two career wins in relief in back-to-back team games. His shutout streak of 149:24 was the longest ever by an Avalanche rookie goaltender and the longest since Patrick Roy went 192:37 without allowing a goal from Jan. 20-28, 2003.

— Colorado stops in Winnipeg after travelling to Calgary Thursday night as part of a two-game back-to-back road trip. The Avs are 0-2-1 this year in the second of back-to-back games and will play a total of 12 doubleheaders this year.

— The Avs have nine games before Christmas (including Thursday in Calgary), six of them on the road and five against the Jets (2) and St. Louis (3), both division rivals.
