Hey there, time traveller!

The Winnipeg Jets head into tonight’s second-last NHL pre-season game in Edmonton with a large to-do list.
The Jets have 32 players — 20 forwards, nine defencemen and three goaltenders — remaining in camp. Whittling that number down to 23 bodies is a primary focus for head coach Paul Maurice and his staff.
Winnipeg will have a veteran-laden lineup minus the top forward line of Nikolaj Ehlers, Blake Wheeler and Mark Scheifele on the ice against the Oilers (8 p.m., TSN3) before closing out its exhibition schedule with a game Saturday in St. Paul against the Minnesota Wild.

The competition for work has been fierce. From the battle for goaltending jobs (Connor Hellebuyck will start tonight) to some bottom-six forward jobs and one or two spots on the blue line.
How many jobs, exactly?
“I don’t have a number, to be quite honest with you,” Maurice said following Thursday morning’s workout at the MTS Iceplex. “I would say there’s three or four opportunities up front. But those are not long-term. There are part-time jobs that are available. The difference is that may be true for players who have been here before or older players. You don’t get the job on Oct. 12 and keep it for the year. There’s just too much competition now. You can keep it for… a week or two and if it falls off, somebody else gets that job.”
