About the BLUES
The Blues dropped a 3-1 decision to the visiting Anaheim Ducks Thursday, their second consecutive loss and fourth defeat in their past six home games.
D Alex Pietrangelo (lower body; injured reserve) and G Carter Hutton (foot) are practising again and both could be available for the home-and-home weekend series with the Jets. Pietrangelo is second among NHL defencemen with seven goals and is fifth in points with 23. D Jordan Schmaltz, the club’s first-round pick in 2012, has been recalled from San Antonio of the AHL, where he was having a big year with five goals and 19 points.
D Jay Bouwmeester (undisclosed) was a late scratch Thursday against Anaheim and is expected to be shut down for the weekend.
LW Jaden Schwartz (right ankle) has been out since Dec. 10 and has been sorely missed. Schwartz, who had 14 goals and 35 points in 30 games prior to getting injured, has been placed on injured reserve and will be re-evaluated in five weeks. He remains second in club scoring, two points back of C Brayden Schenn, who has 16 goals to go with his 37 points in 33 games.
RW Vladimir Tarasenko is third on the scoring list with 14 goals and 33 points in 33 games, but the Russian sniper has scored only twice in his last 11 games.
