New York (18-13-4) dropped a 5-4 overtime decision to the visiting Anaheim Ducks Thursday night. Rickard Rakell pushed the game to OT for the Ducks before Hampus Lindholm completed his first career hat trick with the winner in extra time. It was the eighth loss in 11 games for the Isles.

The Islanders have surrendered a league-worst 41 first-period goals this season and are a minus-10 in goal differential during the opening frame.

D Calvin de Haan (upper body) has been placed on injured reserve and could miss the rest of the regular season. LW Nikolay Kulemin (shoulder surgery) is out indefinitely.

C John Tavares and RW Josh Bailey are tied for the club scoring lead with 45 points each. Tavares is tied with LW Anders Lee with a team-high 21 goals. C Mathew Barzal, a strong Calder Trophy candidate, has 32 points in 35 games, including nine goals.

Former Jets LW Andrew Ladd has nine goals and 16 points in 35 games.
