PORTAGE LA PRAIRIE — Edmonton's Brendan Bottcher scored two in the second, fourth and sixth ends en route to a 7-5 victory over three-time Canadian champion Kevin Koe of Calgary in the final of the Canad Inns Men's Classic curling tournament Monday night.

PORTAGE LA PRAIRIE — Edmonton’s Brendan Bottcher scored two in the second, fourth and sixth ends en route to a 7-5 victory over three-time Canadian champion Kevin Koe of Calgary in the final of the Canad Inns Men’s Classic curling tournament Monday night.

Bottcher, with third Darren Moulding, second Bradley Thiessen and lead Karrick Martin, earned his spot in the final with a 7-5 semifinal triumph over Brad Jacobs of Sault Ste. Marie, Ont.

Koe, playing with his recently reconstituted team including third B.J. Neufeld, second Colton Flasch and lead Ben Hebert, advanced to the final with a 4-3 win over Edmonton’s Karsten Sturmay in a semifinal earlier in the day.

The Bottcher team earned an $18,000 winners’ paycheque at the World Curling Tour event while the Bottcher squad took home $10,000.

The Canad Inns Women’s Classic is slated for Oct. 18-21 at the Portage Curling Club.

Edmonton’s Chelsea Carey, Winnipeg’s Kerri Einarson, Tracy Fleury and Allison Flaxey, Scotland’s Eve Muirhead, Saskatoon’s Sherry Anderson, Stonewall’s Barb Spencer and defending champion Nina Roth of Blaine, Minn., are entered in the event.
