The Canadian Premier League’s Valour FC have signed Belgian goalkeeper Mathias Janssens to a multi-year contract.

Janssens will be added to the roster upon the completion of his International Transfer Certificate and his Canadian work permit.

The 20-year-old Janssens joins the CPL expansion club from RAAL La Louvière of the Belgian Football League’s Third Division. He spent the previous two seasons with Waasland Beveren’s reserve team.

“Through our scouting and coaching networks, Mathias is a player who was brought to our attention well over a year ago,” said Valour FC head coach and GM Rob Gale in a release. “He has been involved at the highest levels in Belgium from 16 years of age and has terrific pedigree. We are delighted to bring him on board to create great competition for the goalkeeping position.”
