The Canadian Premier League’s Valour FC has added John Peacock to its coaching staff as a technical consultant.

The 62-year-old Englishman, well known to Valour’s head coach and general manager Rob Gale, is also a technical consultant for Manchester United, UEFA and FIFA.

“I am delighted to be joining Valour FC in a consultancy capacity,” Peacock said in a release. “I know Rob Gale very well and he spoke very passionately about the club, its aims and importantly their values, which are closely aligned with my own. Whilst I will not be able to commit on a full-time basis, I will constantly be offering support and advice at a distance to Rob, his staff and players.”

Peacock brings a wealth of experience to Winnipeg’s new pro soccer franchise, with more than 35 years of experience in international team management, coach education and youth development.

In 1998, Peacock joined Derby County FC of the Premier League as academy manager where he stayed until 2002, when he was hired at the England FA as coach of the U-17 team.

Peacock became the first English manager to win the UEFA U-17 European Championship in 2010 and then again in 2014.
