Valour FC announced Wednesday the signings of Scottish forward Calum Ferguson and Canadian midfielder Federico Peña to multi-year contracts. The team also announced that defender Nestor Navia will no longer be joining the club for the 2019 Canadian Premier League soccer season due to personal reasons.
Ferguson, 24, spent last season with Elgin City (Scottish League Two) where he made 10 appearances.
Peña, 20, was with the Royal Standard de Liège (Belgian First Division) last season as a member of the U-21 reserves. He grew up playing youth soccer in Winnipeg after moving to the city from Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago, in 2009. Locally, he’s played for Winnipeg South End United (2009-2013), Bonivital (2013-2015) and Granite United (2015-2017).
Valour FC has 19 players signed for the CPL’s inaugural season, which for the home side begins May 1 on the road in Victoria, B.C. against Pacific FC.
